Did you know there are 2 different ways to recover from either a locked Windows account or forgotten Windows password.   The process is basically identical.

A couple things to know first when resetting a forgotten password or unlocking your Windows account:

10 character minimum (1 upper, 1 lower, 1 number, 1 special)

10 Passwords are remembered

5  incorrect passwords lock the Windows account

Method 1 is done from your Windows logon screen:

Method 2 is done by going to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ in a web browser

You will need the mobile phone you use for MFA  for verification. 

At this point you will either need to re-enter your password or your account will be unlocked and should see a message similar to the one below
