Password Requirements and Reset

Did you know there are 2 different ways to recover from either a locked Windows account or forgotten Windows password.   The process is basically identical.

A couple things to know first when resetting a forgotten password:

10 character minimum (1 upper, 1 lower, 1 number, 1 special)

10 Passwords are remembered

5  incorrect passwords lock Windows account

 

Method 1 is done from your Windows logon screen:

 

Method 2 is done by going to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ in a web browser

 

The screens below will be seen after selecting Reset password on your desktop OR going to web link

The mobile phone you use for MFA will be used for verification. 

 

 

 

 

 

At this point you will either need to re-enter your password or your account will be unlocked
