Webex Soft Phone – Desktop and Mobile App

The new phone system allows you to download an app to your smartphone and virtually turn your smartphone into your desk phone; making and receiving calls on your cell phone without giving out your cell phone number to customers. You can also make and receive calls on a computer.  This technology uses Cisco Webex.

You control when you receive calls in the app.  While logged in you will receive calls.  Logout and the calls will go to your voice mail.  

Step 1: Login to your Cox My Account

  • Click "Forgot Password" and enter your Woodhouse email.
  • This will send you an email to your Woodhouse email account with a link to reset your password.
  • Once you reset your password, log into the Cox My Account site with your Woodhouse email as the User Name and your new password. 

Step 2: Make sure your account in Cox is activated for Webex. Click this link -  Contact IT for this confirmation. 

Step 3: Download and install Webex on Your Computer 

  • From your computer, Click this link - Webex Download
  • Click the Download "For Windows (64 bit)"
  • In the top right of the browser click "Open File"
  • Webex will install. Click "Agree" to the License.
  • Click "Sign in" (Do not Create a new account.  You will use your Cox account from above your Woodhouse email and your newly created password).
  • Your @Woodhouse.com email is your login. At "Continue with <your email>" Click "Sign in"
  • Enter the password from your Cox Account from above.  If you have a free Webex account from prior to this install contact the helpdesk or use this link to delete your Free account.
  • Once in the Desktop app you can click the phone icon and see a dial-pad.   If you do not see a dial pad contact the helpdesk.
  • If your computer does not have a microphone and speakers this app will not work for you.  But this step was needed for the mobile app below.

Step 4: From your smartphone go to the App Store and find the Webex App.  The correct app is the one that just says Webex. 

  • Or, from the desktop app click your initials in the top left corner and click Mobile Download to show a QR code. Scan to code to download the app. 

Step 5: Login to the App with your Cox account from above. Woodhouse Email as User Name and newly created password.
